Museum für moderne Kunst Ausstellung 2005: "METAMORPHOSIS"
This exhibition celebrates the diversity and exuberance of British art in the 1960s, a decade which has continued to fascinate and influence future generations of artists. It incorporates painting, sculpture, works on paper and prints, drawn from the rich reserves of British art in the collections of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, and the British Council, London. It includes works by artists who came to prominence during the period and who, in many instances, went on to become major players on the international stage. The exhibition has borrowed its title "Metamorphosis" from an early painting by Bridget Riley from 1964 (included in the show); a title which denotes the transformation British art underwent during this period of great optimism and opportunity. Included in the exhibition are works by Peter Blake, Anthony Caro, Richard Hamilton, David Hockney, Howard Hodgkin, John Hoyland, Eduardo Paolozzi, Bridget Riley and others.
